The best way to determine necessity would be to ask the surgeons to compare the blood loss in the OR to similar cases that were not embolized, although that may be difficult. There appears to be some neovascularity and embolization could keep the field cleaner during resection.

I would use PVA (300-500) or Gelfoam slurry. Because of the uncertain location of nerve structures in relationship to this mass, I would avoid ethanol.
