We have been prophylactically embolizing
AMLs larger than 3.5 cm in children with TS,
particularly in ones who are very physically
active and at higher risk of renal trauma. We
have also embolized AMLs in symptomatic
adults, and unresectable RCCs in adults. In
cases where the arterial anatomy allows, we
use a micro-occlusion balloon.

I thought this applications was a new frontier
for IR, until Ernie Ring showed long-term
follow-up in an AML he embolized 11 years
ago.
