I fully agree with Scott re. the assessment of the new self-expandable metal stents. These stents are being marketed very aggressively by the respective vendors. Before trying them intravascularly I would like to see a serious trial comparing them with existing well established technology. An additional point is lack of unique features that would justify adding a new product into the market. The new metal stents are, if anything, more limited because of lack of flexibility, visibility etc.
