An in-depth FMD review by Thomas F. Luscher et al may be found in Mayo Clinic Proceedings 1987, 62:931-952. According to this article, the renal artery aneurysms are a common finding in pts with renovascular FMD and their rupture is rare, even in pts with HTN. Rarely, rupture into renal vein may cause an AVF.
