Dear Ziv (and all)

I use the Cordis Opti-5 exclusively for all stent cases including
renals and have never had problems with slippage. We had previously
used Olbert balloons extensively for peripheral vascular and dialysis
shunt cases but had a series of (near)mis-adventures
involving an "accordion" phenomenon when pulling the Olberts back out
through the sheath. This occurred most commonly when the balloon had
been inflated/deflated more than 5-6 times.

I have experienced backward renal stent dislodgement (Palmaz P104 on
Cordis 5x2) after deployment at resistant ostial lesion when I then
attempted to seat stent with a 6mm balloon. I ended up capturing
fully deployed stent and placing it in external iliac.

I recently experienced forward renal stent displacement into a post-
stenotically dilated distal renal (13mm!) while attempting placement
of 2nd, more proximal stent to fully cover resistant stenosis. I
could not retrieve this stent through stenosis and deployed it in
distal renal (7mm diameter). F/U duplex at 3 mos. in this pt OK.
Kevin
