I have also found the Cordis Opta-5 to be very reliable for deployment of Palmaz stents in the renal artery. It tracks well, and I have not had any problems with slippage of the stent. However, during a recent case a 6mm Opta-5 balloon ruptured during deployment, leaving the stent only partially deployed. A second Opta-5 balloon positioned through the stent also ruptured. I finally achieved full deployment with a Medi-Tech Courier balloon.

We routinely do primary stenting of ostial renal artery stenoses.
