Most referring physicians, at least in our hospital, are still not completely comfortable with chest CTs for PE. The case that you describe represents morbidity with an acutely ill patient that was at high risk of dying anyways. I am not completely convinced that what had happened was due to the angio. The sequence of events obviously does not make the angio look good.
