I had treated many cases of renal AVM using glue and/or particulated embolic materials. But disappointingly almost all recurred and then visited again with same symptoms. I supposed it would be necessary to ablate the vascular bed. If the vascular bed remains, the AVM will be reopened.( The glue and/or particles could not kill the vascular bed, so time passing the AVM will be opened)
Recent days, I have treated 4 cases of renal AVM with absolute ethanol for total ablation of vascular bed. After this, I only have met a case of recurrence.
