We've successfully treated 5 pseudoaneurysms with percutaneously injected thrombin under sono or CT guidance. These ranged in size from 3cm to 14cm. We use a concentration of 1500u/cc. It works suprisingly fast. In the smaller lesions the aneurysms thrombose very dramatically during real-time sono surveillance usually after injection of less than 1cc. In the largest lesion, which resulted from breakdown of an internal iliac ligation, we placed a detatchable balloon within the neck followed by CT-guided pecutaneous thrombin injection. It required 3cc of thrombin. The others we have done without balloon protection of the parent vessel. I consider this a major boon insofaras it allows us to treat one of our more common "significant" complications.
