One of our abdominal aorta MVA related rupture cases was allowed to go urepaired for a few weeks (patient was in poor shape). A focal contained rupture became extensive dissection all the way to the external iliacs. They had to perform an aorto-bi-fem graft as opposed to a local repair. So rupture is one possible disaster and extensive dissection is another (to a lesser degree). These things need to be fixed promptly. You can probably afford to wait a few days but not weeks.
