I asked the trauma surgeon that was standing beside me during the procedure the same question. He did not seem too keen about saving the IMA. It was one of these deals where we got a rare chance to do something great. The IMA was too close to the tear to reasonably try and position the stent precisely. The surgeons would not have spared the IMA either. Interestingly, the spiral 3D reconstruction did show reconstitution of the IMA.
