I had two nearly identical cases during my fellowship at UCSF. Both presented after several weeks of post-traumatic priapism, neither being treated as an emergency, and both were treated with super-selective catheterization and gelfoam embolization. One pt, at the attending's discretion, also had microcoils placed. Both had good response in the short term (you know how long term follow up goes during a fellowship).
