I now mention the possible need to embolize 1 ovarian artery as part of my routine infomred consent for UAE, citing an incidence of about 1 in 50 cases. I specify that I use Gelfoam for this purpose, which has been demonstrated in the literature to have no effect on ovarian or menstrual function.
